Enjoying a cocktail and some yummy appetizers from Guarapo in Clarendon.
The schedule is getting me down and photography is falling to the wayside but fear not, my reader(s)! Amber carries on...

George is a homebrewer. He makes his own beer. I love this hobby because it makes me proud to drink beer he has brewed. Plus, it is delicious and super-cheap compared to buying beer.
We went to the brew store Friday to get what he needed to make oatmeal stout, which is really tasty.

I'm late late late blogging here because it's been a bit crazy at work. Unless you know me personally, which you probably do, you don't know I work for a foundation that does, among other things, emergency relief in Latin America and the Caribbean. Things have been very hectic recently in light of what's going on in Haiti. The situation is extremely, horrifically dire. Our people in the field keep sending us unbelievable reports. It's hard to think about anything else.
In case you're feeling especially generous, it's panamericanrelief.org.

This is my stunning masterpiece for my Design I class. The unit form looks a lot cooler than this tiling... truth is, I'm rather disappointed with how it turned out. As a photograph, I think it's a much better showing.

Labor Day, Monday, September 1, 2008
I love this man so much.
George and I decided to take a little drive down to Fredericksburg, which promised to be fully boring and was. We ended up in a vegetarian-type restaurant where the seats were uncomfortable, the AC was on too high, the waitress was inattentive, and the food was bad. But the light from the big glass windows was good and George is getting more and more obliging about having his photo taken.
I also have to mention our lovely customer service experience at IKEA, of all places. Our duvet cover was lost misplaced, likely inside the store. We called IKEA and they offered to give us merchandise credit for the total of the blanket - so we can go get a new one for free. Yay IKEA and who thought I'd ever say that?

After a long afternoon of eating dip and drinking beer, George and I hobbled out to the Kennedy Center for some swing dancing in celebration of Colin's birthday (not this Colin, the other one). Of course, this mostly entailed standing around watching other people dance and at least one break by the fountain, which these two kindly graced with their silhouettes for me.

241/366 A New Day, originally uploaded by Amberture.
Thanks for the nod, Jeff! You'll recognize Saturday's picture towards the middle. I thought it was decent as well - the film worked well for the shot.

I can't believe August is almost over. It seems like the summer has just flown by.
Here I am trying out the new bathroom mirror. It's clearly inferior to George's and superior to my old one.
