Having nothing better to do, I took a walk to the shopping center near my house today and spotted these blooms against some geometry.
I have decided that every trip to the shopping center must include a stopover in PetsMart because the pets are so damn cute and you can hang out with them for free and there's lots of doggies everywhere. It's like having an awesome pet but not having to clean up poop or feed it or anything.

Every year, the Smithsonian hosts a kite festival in conjunction with the National Cherry Blossom Festival. Washington, DC and surrounds have sprung, as it were, full of blooms of all types and it's very, very floral around here. The city celebrates this with a two week long festival honoring the gift from Japan in 1912 of 3000 cherry blossoms. The kite festival was really amazing with hundreds of kites flying and thousands more onlooking.
George and I both made box kites but the truth is, they didn't actually fly. We had a great deal of fun (and a little bit of frustration).

This is my beloved, mowing the lawn. He always gets irritated when I try to take pictures of him, which kinda sucks because I'm doing it constantly. The man actually smiled for one of these "first mow of the year" shots.

George and I spent the evening at the "up-and-coming" Atlas district. It was kinda ghetto, including this apparent abandoned synagogue. We saw the "Condensed Mikado" which turned out to be a pared-down Gilbert & Sullivan performed by college students (?).

Ugly. Stupid. I have been trying to shoot this tree for ages because it's really cool. This is clearly not what I'm going for.

I don't know what these blossoms are near my house but they seemed pretty in the streetlight. This isn't communicated as well here, clearly.

George and I decided to do a short tour of Virginia's vineyards. This shot was snapped in the parking lot of the Tarara Winery - $10 for a tasting! so we didn't bother with that and instead made out a bit in their self-guided "cave" tour.

Good Friday, March 21, 2008
I had Good Friday off for no legitimate reason so I sat around all day and watched TV. Figuring nothing more exciting would happen than this afternoon light, I shot a couple of self-portraits.
